Ms. Haitao Ye, lawyer of Dentons Shanghai, was Invited as a guest speaker of an online webinar on Child Welfare Protection in Private International Law hosted by CAPLUS

On 1 June 2023, International Children’s Day, the University of Sydney’s Centre for Asian and Pacific Law (CAPLUS) hosted an online webinar discussing the issue of children’s welfare and voices in private international law (PIL). Ms. Haitao Ye, lawyer at the Shanghai office of the Beijing Dacheng Law LLP specialising in marriage and family dispute resolution, and wealth inheritance and management, was kindly invited to make a speech on the topic of “Protection of Children’s Civil Rights in Cross-border Surrogacy under Private International Law”. The other guest speakers were as follows: Mr. Philippe Lortie, co-head of the International Family and Child Protection Law Division at the Hague Conference on Private International Law Permanent Bureau; Professor Lukas Rademacher, Professor of Private Law, Private International Law, and Comparative Law at Kiel University, Germany; Dr. Miranda Kaye, Senior Lecturer at the University of Technology Sydney; Ms. Anna Mary Coburn, former attorney for the US Government (USG) involving the Hague Children’s Conventions and a Regional Legal Advisor and Foreign Service Officer for USAID. This event was moderated by Dr Jeanne Huang, Associate Professor at the Sydney Law School and CAPLUS co-director.

2023年6月1日国际儿童节之际，悉尼大学亚太法律中心（CAPLUS）举办了一场关于探讨国际私法中儿童福利、为儿童权益保护发声相关的在线研讨会。北京大成（上海）律师事务所叶海涛律师受邀就《国际私法下跨境代孕儿童的民事权利保护》做主题演讲。与会的演讲嘉宾还有：海牙国际私法会议常设局国际家庭和儿童保护法律司联席主任Philippe Lortie先生、德国基尔大学私法、国际私法和比较法教授Lukas Rademacher先生、悉尼科技大学高级讲师Miranda Kaye博士、美国政府（USG）负责海牙儿童公约的前律师，美国国际开发署区域法律顾问和外交事务官员Anna Mary Coburn女士。本次活动由悉尼大学法学院副教授、悉尼大学亚太法律中心（CAPLUS）联合主任Jeanne Huang博士主持。

In the first part of the webinar, five experts were invited to share their views on the status quo, challenges, and potential solutions to protect the welfare of children in the international and transnational context. In part two of the webinar a roundtable discussion took place between the expert speakers on the core question: “How can we define the ‘best interest’ of a child?”

在线上研讨会的第一部分，五位专家应邀就国际和跨国背景下儿童福利保护的现状、挑战和可能的解决方案分享了他们的观点。在线上研讨会的第二部分，各位专家还就核心问题——“如何定义儿童的‘最佳利益’?”进行了圆桌讨论。
